Montasio

Intriguing Alpine Flavor

Montasio DOP is a cow’s milk cheese which is produced in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region of Italy. Its origins date back to the 1200's when it was originally produced by Benedictine monks. It has a delicate, somewhat fruity flavor with just a hint of nuts.

Montasio is often shredded over Polenta or used in the making of the famous “Frico”, which is similar to an Omelet or Frittata. One of Italy’s most versatile cheeses & possibly Italy’s most underrated cheese.
